Corinne West ~ Little Bird Says…

Dear Music Lovers, Treasure Hunters, Bird Watchers, Sooth Sayers, Grumblers, Ribbon Weavers, Button Buttoners, Lion Tamers, Uptown Dwellers, Downtown Shufflers, and all ~

The hour strikes to write to you, from the coast of California, to wherever you find yourself, reading this, on a portal. Tidings of courage and introspection I send on this, yet another day of miracles and the illusion of common events on Earth.

More music. More art. More kindness. More connecting. More gratitude. More ON. (heh).

On June 30th, Corinne West Band will be performing at a SEVA benefit at The Mystic Theatre in Petaluma California. Also on the bill are Chris Robinson Brotherhood, (Black Crows), and The Fall Risk. SEVA is human kindness in action. I am a strong advocate. Please expose yourself to them if you have not come across them yet. I often give gifts of sight through SEVA for birthday presents.

My band for this show will be comprised of stellar bassist Joe Kyle Jr, (Waybacks and more), and guitar / pedal steel master Barry Sless (Phil Lesh, David Nelson and more). Rule # 44. Always perform with great musicians who are kind-hearted and all up in the songs. Done Deal.

I have a video to share with you. Amelia from the Freight & Salvage earlier this year… Check it out.

And since you are with me, here is a little something for you – it’s Amelia, downloadable as a live cut. Travel here to claim the sound.

I continue to write for the recording this fall. I believe putting a fundraiser together for the new record is in high order. Yes.

Further, as some know, I am a card carrying alchemical hypnotherapist. I will be announcing dates for hypnotherapy songwriting and creative un-blocking (so to speak) workshops this summer. These events will likely take place periodically when I am touring again. Let’s see how it unfolds in the fall line.

Keep in touch. Onward we dream. Happy you are here.

All love,

Corinne

APRIL NEWS FROM CORINNE WEST

Dear Friends, Music-lovers, Dance-makers, Chance-takers, Remote-shore-dwellers and Evolutionary-evidencers,

Today is the official release date for the remix, and remaster, of The Promise. This is also Earth Day across the globe. (… ever considered making a promise to the Earth?) On this end we are celebrating the end of a huge, completed, project (!!), as well as the raising our hats and hearts to the most happening planet we know of.

Since returning to the States from the 13-month Artist-in-Residency in Austria, the first chapter of touring has been wrapped up. Meanwhile, radio and articles are coming around as The Promise goes into circulation. PopVulture has a write up to check out here.

The wheel of the year turns as parts of the earth continually catapult through space at 1675 km per hour or 465 meters per second. That’s 1,040 miles per hour. So, for every second, you are moving almost half a kilometer through space, and you don’t even feel it. Every second. On all fronts, it is impossible to ever say that nothing is going on.

The writing continues. The words and letters fall to the floor and escape out of the hands – scatter around the house and on the winding forest floor during expansive hikes. I carry a satchel much like the old fashioned scrabble letter holders to make sure none escape… until the time I can marry them to the page, and liberate them from their alienation.

As always, much appreciation goes out to you. Music is  powerful for us. Thank you for sharing this particular needle and thread with me.

All love,

Corinne

MARCH • WEST • NEWS • FOR • YOU

Dear Friends and Music Lovers, Diviners and Gold Diggers, Saints and Sinners et al ~

The Spring Equinox – (in the western hemisphere) – has arrived. The days in California have grown longer in light and hence the hours in the great outdoors have lengthened as well. To dive right in, I took a solo journey down the coast this month, traveling in a pop-top camper van, to weave on the mighty cliffs, inhale breathtaking views, and lose my sense of self while gazing at Big Sur’s commanding regal ocean. In the evening I would stare through the campfire into dimensions un-nameable by me, with guitar in hand – courting inspiration with full presence and color. This is, indeed, a very long way of  sharing that this spring I have been steadfast in writing for the next record, and there is a fire in my head and hands over this…

For the present – please allow me to direct your attention the songs of the moment. The 2014 remix and remaster of THE PROMISE is available now, and is about to be released digitally for the first time ever. For details, check this out

For you Bay Area friends, March 29th finds Corinne West Band, (this show accompanied by Jeri Jones and Pam Delgado!) at the EMPRESS THEATRE in Vallejo, California. Please consider this your formally engraved invitation to join us at this stellar, historical theatre.

Since my sabbatical in Austria, I have not been touring heavily. This is on the cusp of changing. I thank you for the emails from over seas and in North America inquiring about the next time CWB will be on your town. Keep ‘em coming. The forces behind the curtain are conspiring to make this happen as soon as possible.

As always, much appreciation goes out to you. Music is a powerful for us. Thank you for sharing this particular needle and thread with me.

All love,

~ Corinne

CORINNE WEST BAND – February 2014

Dear Friends, Music Lovers and Earth Dwellers in Kind,

Our first run of shows in California were rather, well, smokin’. We began our official Release of the The Promise remix at The Freight & Salvage Coffeehouse in Berkley. Spirits were high. Music soared. No one was injured. The show was recorded in a three camera shoot and footage of the event will be available soon.

Our tour-ette took us north to The Big Room at Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. in Chico, through the Feather River Canyon to a down-right-righteous home show at the Town Hall Theatre in Quincy, then up Hwy. 5 to Shasta, finishing with a sling-shot drive to the Arcata Playhouse. Soon after, we performed in Mill Valley at a benefit for the film premiere of “The Invisible Peak” ~ a benefit for the powerful Mt. Tamalpais. Thank you one and all for attending and presenting yourselves. We do indeed look forward to returning to your longitude and latitude soon.

Meanwhile, we just returned from Kansas City, MO. where we attended and performed at the International Folk Alliance Conference and took great culinary joy in some mean BBQ sauce. It had been many years since we were at the FA conference, and it was a pleasure to be back in the mix. The Folk Alliance is a stellar community of performing gypsies and music aficionados from the world over. It was great to see you again, friends.

On to the moment, this Saturday we perform at The Woodshed in Los Gatos. Come one, come all. Corinne West Band is on the highway and the doors are swinging.

Thank you ever-so for your presence, support, energy and light.

More to come. More to Dream. More to be.

~ Corinne

CORINNE WEST BAND ~ JANUARY 22 SMOKE SIGNAL

Dear Friends and Music Lovers ~

It has been another beautiful day on the planet in which we have been preparing to present ourselves to you so to speak. Presenting… Corinne West Band! Present. Odd in that I just realized this means the moment, to give a gift, and to showcase or exhibit. In truth we are energized to be doing all of the above.

Corinne West Band is ON. Harmonies locking. Hair flowing. Rhythm and guitars sailing… Bay area friends, we will see you at the Freight & Salvage on January 30th.

This show is followed by a short ‘tourette’ (heh), in northern California from Chico’s Big Room at the Sierra Brewing Co., to Quincy’s Town Hall,  to Shasta to Arcata and more. Towards the end of the month we dip just below the bay, then in February, off to Kansas City for the Folk Alliance Conference. California gets a few stops this winter. More soon, everywhere. Time to take these sounds out of the rehearsal room.

Further, we have been coaxing color from clouds and clay to bring you our new shirts. Check ‘em out. These shirts are the first in a series of the new items for our General Store. Very soon we will be able to sell these on our site – top of February it looks like. Here is a sneak preview:

February… that is also when the remix of The Promise (featuring my new band mates, Pam and Jeri of Blame Sally) will be available. What does the remix consist of you ask? Well, each song was addressed, and altered. Most importantly, I opened up the record, and added harmony vocals from both Pam and Jeri. Unorthodox? Of course. I am more than happy with the results.

We are pleased to be on the air this weekend on KZFR – Saturday, 2:00 PST. Chico friends, tune in on 90.1 – all else not in Chico, you can stream if you care to join us. Call in. Ask a question. Support your non-com radio station!

California friends, join in this new band project at a gig in a town near you. Rest of the world friends, know we are using a chisel on time to carve out the details for our soonest tour near you.

Thank you everso for your presence, support, energy and light.

More soon and be well,

~ Corinne

CORINNE WEST BAND – NOVEMBER’S SMOKE SIGNAL

Dearest Friends and Music Lovers,

So much has transpired since last we connected. Rooms full of the sound of rehearsal. Which guitar shall we tour with? Do you like the way that one sounds… with that one? Yes. Found it. Now where is the right guitar strap? It goes on, the brine and sweetness, marinating this sound, to bring it to you.

Playing music as Corinne West Band featuring Pam Delgado and Jeri Jones is a blessing, and a beautiful responsibility.  We launched our first shows in California and from 25 October, through 10 November, did a series of six shows along California’s Central Coast, in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sonoma wine country; finishing up with a sweet show in Stinson Beach at a gorgeous cozy venue called the Chapel. The room was filled with candles an elegantly focused vibe. We have shared one video from the Chapel gig on our Face Book page, and will continue to do so over the next few weeks. Thank you everyone who joined us for our first warming shows this last month.

There is much in the works. We will indeed be at Folk Alliance this year in Kansas City, making a big noise, and enjoying any gentle silences.

Our team remains busy filling out our touring schedule. We’re currently booked to headline at The Freight & Salvage in Berkeley, CA, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., and the Arcata Theatre, to name a few.

I’ll keep you posted as additional shows are added, or you can get the latest at corinnewest.com.
A West bound train… building steam at a station near you… soon

All love,

Corinne

OCTOBER’S FRIENDLY SMOKE SIGNAL

CorinneFBcoverPhoto3

Dear Friends and Music Lovers,

Stories …the fabric that makes up the crazy quilt of who we believe we are, held together by our threads of experience, sewn and fastened with the golden needle of our beliefs.

I had mentioned to you in my last news-letter about playing music with Jeri Jones and Pam Delgado of Blame Sally, but I wanted to further, and tell you the back story. In July I was asked by a close friend to perform a few songs at her wedding. I had not performed in a very long time, as I was on the tail end of a much needed respite from touring. At the wedding, myself, Jill Knight and Blame Sally would be the line up after the ceremony. I thought to bring a couple of accompanists for my set, but then it dawned on me – what a great surprise for the newly weds to have Blame Sally sit in on my tunes. Unique. Surprising. Wedding. Uncharted. Curious. Interesting. I sent out an email to the gals in the band, proposing just this.
As schedules allowed, it was Jeri and Pam that got back to me and we rehearsed the four numbers in a garage in Berkeley. We knew it would be fun. We didn’t know it would be explosive. As we rehearsed, the hair on our arms stood on end. Charge flew about the room. Eyes glanced this way and that as we played, until we all looked at each other and said… What On Earth Is Going On? Then smiled, and did another tune.
Image

This is all to say that Corinne West Band was formed out of a gift, a surprise, for two dear friends getting married. At the wedding performance, the electricity went from the stage to the celebrants, and back to the music on stage again, and hence, back out, forming the perfect circuit, the Lemniscate, the collective charge, that which makes us all soar together.
Our first shows are coming up in mid-California this weekend, followed by the bay area in November… followed by… a town near you.
With light and love, thanks for staying close to the music,
~ Corinne
Oh, our stealth collaborators put together some fun etheric destinations for you too.

SEPTEMBER’S FRIENDLY SMOKE SIGNAL

Greetings Friends of Music and Earth dwellers in kind,

As I settle to greet you, I am reminded of the raccoon that was in my living room last week. It was a stark visitation. This particularly massive forest creature was at a full-tension-hissing-slightly terrifying stand-off with my cat. Face to face. Hands on holsters… raccoon gaining ground into the dwelling… Fearing for the cats life, and that the coon might get irritated and transform into the tasmanian devil hurling itself around the living room in a frenzy, taking everything down with it while destroying the cat, I faced my fear and ran straight at it, relieved as the night bandit scurried it’s way back into the darkness. Connecting the relevance of this tale with a letter to you regarding music apparently will not happen, but I am not deleting it.

This summer arrived bearing a cornucopia of change, revealing its harvest with an air of mystery and electricity. In light of that, I am delighted to announce that Jeri Jones, and Pam Delgado of Blame Sally will be joining me as accompanists in the musical adventures and manifestations of Corinne West & The Bandits. The story of us joining forces was something we seemed to simultaneously witness as well as participate in… like a collective dream. Joyfully. Merrily. Respectfully. Vigorously. The result is that I can’t wait for us to be on tour to share this harmonious vibe and sound with you. Please stand by for dates and details.

Before I depart, I want to share a song with you. In January I was contacted by the lovely people Jéssica García, Miguel Dominguez in Spain letting me know they had translated and adapted the tune The Stranger. I was moved, and you can take a listen/see here.

Thank you for tuning in. Be well and more soon!

Corinne
