CORINNE WEST

At fifteen, Corinne West left home in a converted school bus with a guitar and a head full of questions. The road became an early classroom, and music a way of listening to the world and responding to it. Since then, she has spent years touring internationally, released five independent albums and a collection of singles, and contributed music to television, film, and experimental art projects.

Her creative life moves between music, mixed media, assemblage, and installation. She has created and exhibited installations in the United States and Europe, working with sound, color, texture, light, shadow, patina, found materials, and the quiet intelligence of objects. Much of her inspiration comes from the elemental world: stone, weather, water, fire, rust, silence, decay, movement, and myth.

Corinne is drawn not only to the artwork itself, but to what happens in the space between a piece of music or art and the person encountering it. That liminal space belongs to no one. It cannot be owned or fully predicted. It remains open, alive, and accessible to those willing to enter it. For her, this in-between territory is one of the richest parts of the creative process, a place of exchange, recognition, uncertainty, and learning.

Her recent recording project, Through Not Around, received funding from the State of California. The project includes a four-song EP and a series of free concerts in under-served rural communities. Across her work, Corinne continues to explore how sound, image, material, and attention can alter a space, open a threshold, and create new connections with the self, one another, and the living animate world.
